Happy weekend, everyone. We made it!
The next few days will be busy for Andy and I as we get the house in order for our guests next week- his twin sister and brother-in-law! I met Elizabeth when I traveled to England in 2009, but I’ve never seen Andy and her together. It’s going to be so crazy just observing them and what they have in common and seeing how much more English Andy sounds after spending a week with her.
This is my third week participating in Daily Diaries (which fortunately fits in with today’s A to Challenge letter, J: journal is another word for diary!). Thanks to Kate for hosting and congratulations on her marriage ceremony at the beginning of the week!
Sunday:ย We went to an old favorite park, Poet’s Walk, for a nice long hike, and then hit up Holy Cow in Red Hook for the best, cheapest ice cream you can find in the Hudson Valley.
Monday:ย I nervously published my Motherhood and Mental Illness: Questions and Fears post and I’m so glad I did. You are all so warm, supportive, and open when I share something particularly personal. Thank you.
Tuesday:ย Trivia night again, and Andy’s first big sale of the week (and second biggest ever!) ๐ The bar owner came over to Andy when we were in the middle of debating some answers and borrowed him for a few minutes. I’m sure I didn’t help at all with that particular question as I watched Andy make the sale with two women from out of town. Here’s the photo he sold, which was 24″ x 36″ and printed on metal. Gorgeous, isn’t it? It was such a happy night!
Wednesday:ย Lots of time spent in the woods while I baby-sat, which makes me happy. Our ‘fort’ now has a longer third wall and a ‘bed’ filled with leaves and pine needles (just need to remember to do lots of tick checks lately!). I remember being exhausted on Wednesday, and as such, did not publish a new post as planned. I decided to give myself some slack. Six new posts a week has been fun, but intense.
Thursday:ย Such a beautiful spring day! I worked like mad and published two posts, all while trying to keep up with commenting on all the new blogs I’m finding through the A to Z Challenge, plus replying to all the great comments you guys leave. Keep them coming! ๐
Thursday also happened to be the best day ever here in the Milford house, asย Andy made his highest sale ever! He sold one of his Bill Murray stencils!!ย Special thanks to Good Old Vintage here in Kingston for facilitating the sale- if you click on their link you’ll see the exact Bill that sold yesterday on the top of the page. We celebrated by eating at Yum Yum Noodle Bar for dinner. Oh yes, and I can’t overlook the dessert: coconut passion fruit pudding! It was bursting with flavor and the perfect complement to the Thai spices in my Bento box.
Friday:ย I started the cleaning extravaganza today, sure to continue until we leave for the airport on Monday. As much as I despise it, I must say that scrubbing the bathtub is quite satisfying in its own way ๐
If it didn’t start raining this afternoon, we were going to go for another hike, but hey, it’s April. It rains. Naps, low-key dinner, and movie watching are in order!
About these photos: Andy went on one of his usual scouting missions the other day and explored Middletown for only the second time. All of the above images are of the Orange County Fair Speedway, which unlike his usual photo subjects, isย not abandoned. According to the Speedway’s Facebook page, it first opened in 1857 and is the longest continuously-operating dirt track in the U.S. Wow! (If you’d like to talk to Andy about any of his photos or projects, you can email him at andymilford@gmail.com)
What did you do this week?
Hey, love ur post and enjoy life. Let’s make memories and enjoy every moment in life:)
Thank you! Have a good weekend!
It looks like you had a nice, low-key week. Congrats to your photographer on the sales of his precious work! Too legit! I hope other people enjoy reading the Daily Diaries as much as I do. It’s fun, isn’t it?
Thanks! We’re pretty psyched ๐ It is fun! I love peeking into other people’s lives.
Wow, Christy – so much going on!! I saw that your husband sold his painting, that’s awesome, such an incredible feeling I’m sure. I’m going to have to hop backwards and play catch up by reading some of your posts this week! Loving seeing all the places you’ve travel (via facebook updates) – so inspiring to take a trip and see the world! xo
Happy to inspire, Emily! That’s what this spring feels like already for me: a lot going on, and that’s the way I like it ๐
Thank you for the congratulations ๐
Well done to Andy, it sounds like he’s had a fantastic week of sales!
Kate recently posted…A bride’s thoughts 3 weeks before the wedding
Yay for you and yay for Andy- he definitely had his highest-grossing week ever, and right before tax time, it couldn’t be more helpful, haha.
