Just across the New York border, not more than forty minutes from us here in Hudson, lies the wonderful village of Great Barrington, Massachusetts. The main reason I’ve been there the last few years is because of its proximity to some great hiking trails (Monument Mountain, for example), but it’s a nice destination in and of itself.
Andy and I tend to notice a lot of the same things. As you see here in his photos, he loves capturing signs just as much as I do!
In the spirit of giving myself a break during this blogging everyday challenge, today will be a photo essay only. Enjoy, friends.

Today’s post is G for Great Barrington. I’m participating in the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge, which means a post every day, except Sunday, for the month of April. My theme is travel; I love to feature faraway places as well as those close to home. To all my new readers, thank you so much for stopping by!
Really nice to look around and take photos of what we see along the way while walking or maybe jogging or something. The stop, look, and wave sign is cool!
Yes, absolutely! The ‘wave’ on the sign always tickles me 🙂
Hello! Fabulous. The sign photos are wonderful. My husband and I love taking photos, too – we both went to film school and did one year of photography. He’s now a film editor mainly for the BBC wildlife unit and I’m a wildlife poet, after doing an MA in writing for young people – that’s what the abbreviation ‘MA’ means for me, it’s confusing when reading an American site but I know it’s an abbreviation for Massachusetts, too! I also look for signs, often up high on old buildings in the UK, where things were painted on the bricks – to see what the shops were in times before. In Bath, near where I live, the old library is still painted on one of the buildings in the main street, for instance. Nice to meet you via the A-Z! ~Liz http://www.lizbrownleepoet.com
Oh wow, a film editor for BBC wildlife, how cool! My husband is more of a serious photographer than I am- he’s had several shows and been featured in some publications. It’s more of a hobby for me, but it’s certainly something that drew us together. Yes, we love those old ‘invisible’ signs on brick buildings, too! He’s from the UK as well and I can’t wait to explore it with him. Thanks for coming by, Liz! 🙂
I love the almost-ghost cat best.

Yes! Andy and I are both suckers for stencil street art.
Those are some beautiful shots! Love it! I can’t wait to get back out to shooting with my camera again (in the warmth!)

The warm weather is upon is! It was still in the 50s at 6 pm today!
What a great eye you’ve got! I love these pictures!
These are my husband’s, but I’m passing on the compliment 🙂
Can you believe that I’m not sure I’ve ever been there? We do go to the Berkshires quite a bit and I’m headed to Pittsfield on Sunday to see newborn animals to photograph, so I’m assuming I have driven through there.
We should meet there some time!
Oh, newborn animals! How exciting. And no, I can’t believe it! I think we should meet at a restaurant called the Gypsy Joynt; I know you’d be into it like I was when my friend first took me there a couple weeks ago. They have burgers and sandwiches and stuff but also divine baked goods (a cinnamon sugar doughnut muffin!), and are pretty well priced, most of GB seems to be on the higher end. It’s quite a ways from Pittsfield though- south of I-90- so maybe you haven’t been there!
