Reappearing, with Sunsets and Pretty Skies

Hudson Sunset - Sweet and Savoring

This was such a nice sight to be greeted with on the streets of Hudson, NY

It’s the middle of November! I’ve had some rough days recently, but want to make an effort to get my mojo back. Thanks for bearing with me!

Today a couple of things inspired me, namely the encouragement of a friend (oh man you HAVE to check out her sweeeet upcycled sweaters, plus she has an Etsy shop in the works!) and the dramatic pink sky pictured above.

Do you sometimes forget to look outside and appreciate the sunset? I do. Days like today are especially nice considering how overcast it is lately as we head into winter.

A beauty that Andy took in our backyard last week

And here are some of my favorite sunset shots from past Novembers:

These two were taken at Bard College‘s Walled Garden, overlooking the Hudson River:

Sometimes you get the best sunset shots by turning around 🙂

And from my Costa Rica trip in 2009, two sunset shots overlooking the Nicoya Gulf:

I love the low-hanging clouds and layers in this one

Is it any wonder that my favorite color is orange? I think not.

Exciting things of the moment: Andy is the artist in residence at our local brew pub, Keegan Ales, for the months of November and December. He’s featuring his pop art stencils and photography and has already sold two pieces!

Also, we’re thinking of having a Pie Party in a couple of weeks. A bunch of friends in the area made the intention to get together regularly to boost winter morale and pull each other out of hibernation, and this would be the first event that Andy and I host. Wouldn’t it be fun to have a potluck feast of sweet and savory pies?

And of course, Thanksgiving is next week! Stay tuned for some holiday food posts, friends, and here’s to literally looking up- or appreciating the beauty around you, whatever form it may take.
