Friday Gratitude - Sweet and Savoring

A sticker found in Costa Rica, winter 2009

My, has it been a busy week. I’m on Long Island again, this time for our annual family Lobster Party with my dad’s side of the family. July has been (and will continue to be) the busiest month of the year for Andy and I…which isย usually a good thing. I just need to remember to take time for myself more often than I have been, and remember anti-anxiety practices like mindfulness.

With that, thanks for stopping by for another edition ofย Friday Gratitude!

(Short short short version!)

Today, I’m grateful for goals and commitments.ย I started jogging recently, and it’s not easy to start a routine for yourself when you’ve been mostly sedentary (yes, there are walks and hikes, but jogging is a whole other entity!). It helps having a goal to work towards– like planning to run a 5k in a few month’s time (!).

Another commitment at the moment? School! I’m starting my school’s nursing program in August and I haven’t had a major goal like this in I-don’t-know-how-long. It’s often hard for me to stay focused, but knowing that all my hard work will eventually pay off is great motivation.

What are you grateful for today? Do you have any long-term goals you’re working towards? What are you doing this weekend?

July has been terribly busy for me too! I’m grateful that I get to spend time with my family right now out of state!

Vacation is quite nice ๐Ÿ™‚ We’ve seriously been busy every weekend lately! I would say ‘looking forward to quieter times’, but I know I’ll just be bored then ๐Ÿ™‚

Today I’m grateful to have a day where I don’t have to be anywhere to do anything. As an introvert, I love a day when I can just totally unplug and recharge.

How exciting that you will be starting your program soon. I actually love school, and sometimes I miss having that structured approach to learning. Nursing is such an important field where you can make such a big difference in people’s lives. That’s a wonderful goal to have!

Boy, do I hear you on the introvert thing- surprisingly, I still forget to make time for myself when I need it.
Thanks for the nursing school encouragement! Structure is a good thing- and so is positive reinforcement ๐Ÿ™‚

I totally get what you mean about taking time for yourself when your surrounded by family. It’s important to get that space to breathe and to be quiet with your own thoughts. So proud that you started jogging. Jogging is seriously my form of meditation and I always get the best insight and endorphins from running! I’m grateful for summer and having this flexible time to just hang with my kids and my hubby. I love open ended non-routine days! xoxo, Jackie

Thanks, Jackie- I’m proud that I started jogging, too! I even went for a tiny walk/jog yesterday in my parents’ neighborhood ๐Ÿ™‚ A good source of insight and endorphins, for sure.
